Wireless Connect Install

Cellular 5G Service

Step 1 - Connect wireless device (if needed)

NOTE: If Bigleaf Wireless Connect is built into your Bigleaf router (and thus you do not have a separate wireless device) please skip to step 2.

Because the device uses cellular service, be sure to place it in an area where it can access a cellular signal, such as an elevated location close to window and away from metal structures and thick (concrete) walls.

  1. Have the Router Configuration details information close by. This information is part of the Order Shipped email from Bigleaf.
  2. Connect the Mobile antennas to the back of the device to the Mobile MAIN and Mobile AUX connectors.
  3. Connect the 4-pin connector to the power socket on the front of the device. Then plug the power adapter into a power source (with UPS protection).
  4. Connect the Ethernet cable to the LAN 1 port of the Teltonika device, and the other end of the cable to the Bigleaf WAN interface indicated in your Router Configuration details.

Important: If for some reason the Teltonika router is not working or is having issues with configuration, please DO NOT factory reset the device. Contact Bigleaf Support for assistance (888 244 3133) Ext 1.

Step 2 - Fine-tune settings

Please contact Bigleaf Support so that we can confirm available wireless speeds at your location and make adjustments to circuit speed settings (if needed). For Bigleaf’s QoS prioritization, intelligent load-balancing, and seamless failover functions to work properly, the site circuit speeds in the Bigleaf Cloud Connect Dashboard should be set as close as possible to actual wireless speeds available at your location.

  • 5G speeds will vary based on location and other factors, such as weather or capacity of nearby cell towers. When we ship out Bigleaf wireless equipment, by default we set your 5G circuit speed in the Bigleaf Cloud Connect Dashboard with a speed setting of 20/5 Mbps.
  • Please note, the speed settings on the 5G wireless circuit in the Bigleaf Cloud Connect Dashboard control the rate of 5G service plan data consumption. Setting a lower 5G circuit speed will better regulate data consumption throughout the month.

For 5G-Ready plans with approved 3rd party SIM

Fig. 2: SIM panel open

For sites where you are bringing your own SIM, simply insert your own SIM into a SIM slot. The SIM slots are located behind a panel on the Bigleaf router as pictured in Fig. 1. Use a small screwdriver to open.

Insert your SIM into slot 1 (circuit board facing up) or slot 2 (circuit board facing down). As shown in Fig. 2, the bottom right slot is slot 1 and the the top right slot is slot 2.

Then activate the SIM in the Bigleaf Cloud Connect Dashboard’s configuration page or call the Bigleaf support team to activate it for you.

Important:

Electricity can damage SIM cards easily, please ensure you are properly grounded, if possible; preferably with an anti-static mat while inserting or removing a SIM and that the device is powered off during this process.
